You will explore atoms and their components, and you will create atomic models to help you better understand the organization of those components. Next, you will learn more about elements and their properties as well as how the periodic table of elements organizes them. The unit also examines the differences among the various states of matter and how those states influence properties such as density, volume, and solubility. The final project builds upon your knowledge by asking you to survey items in your home and consider how matter and its properties influence the items' structure and function.
