Kids Meet a 101 Year Old - posted from Boerne, TX
Now that my students have a grasp on differences between now and "back then", I think this one on one interview will be a good talking point. The woman featured is quite interesting and has some great answers to the Q & A section (not related to anyt worksheets in the curriculum but still interesting).
FUN Beginners 2 Person Square Dance "Do-Si-Do" for Kids - posted from Homewood, IL
A very fun and kid-lead way to teach the basics of square dancing with 2 people/kids. The steps are simple, the music is fun and directs the children as they dance. My nine and ten year olds learned in less than 15 minutes and actually enjoyed it!

This is a video we found of people dancing traditional jigs much like what Grandma and Uncle George would have been doing. It takes place in our home town which is well known for its folk music scene.

Easy Square Dance Tunes with Caller - posted from Pittsburg, KS
There are several easy dances that don't require a lot of people and have clear directions on the album Square Dancing 101 by the Square Players, available from iTunes. The dances we tried were "Fisher's Hornpipe / Soldier's Joy" (rather long, but easy to learn), "Captain Jinks" (which was mentioned in the book and is also easy), and "Buffalo Gals" (also mentioned in the book, more of a line dance than a square dance, but very fun).
