For Activity 1, my student looked through Scott Foresman's Student Atlas to find out where each resource came from. He would write the state name on the back of the resource. He then alphabetized the states, and then the resources. He can also sort them by type. We are keeping them in a bag for reuse instead of gluing them down to construction paper.

Here's a bit more detailed recipe for working with the syrup. According to this chef, the syrup temperature is the key. Also, you could use coconut oil to grease your hands instead of cooking spray.
