We spent part of our lesson browsing our local city government website. This supported both our language arts lesson (People of Sparks #8) and Geography and landforms (lesson #7). We found an 'adopt a drain' link in the 'public works' tab on the city's page so we signed up to regularly sweep out our street's storm drain. This was a great movement/physical activity break for her. We also found some great information on current events surrounding the watershed here.
