I was searching for examples of animals and food chains found in freshwater habitats and stumbled on this. The Hudson River is a wonderful river to study during the Freshwater lessons since it's not only relevant to the lessons, but also historically significant. Research on Freshwater Organisms and Food Web Activities - posted from El Dorado Hills, CA
Enchanted Learning has freshwater and pond habitat print-outs along with print-outs on each animal featured in each habitat. My daughter used them to complete her research for the Classifying Organisms and Food Web activities. While discussing the food chain, I drew arrows on the freshwater scene print-out showing the flow of energy. We drew a sun and started with that. With that imagery in mind, she created her own original food web. The web page also has print-outs for each of the invertebrates and vertebrates, except for the specific fish. We used the water mite for the arachnid. These links were very helpful:
