- A non-fiction book is about true information, events, or people.

- A character is a person or animal in a book.
- Authors create characters that readers can understand by showing the characters' actions, thoughts, and words.
- Adjectives are words that describe nouns.
Lesson 3: Story Setting
- Setting is the time and place of a story.
- The setting can help the reader understand more about a character and can also create feelings in the reader.
Lesson 4: Plot
- The plot is the pattern of events that happen in a story.
- In many storybooks, the main character has a problem.
Lesson 5: Folktales and Fairy Tales
- A folktale is a story, passed down for many years, that reflects a culture and teaches a lesson or explains a natural event.
Lesson 6: Cinderella Stories Around the World
- Fairy tales are a type of folktale.
- Countries all over the world have Cinderella stories.
Lesson 7: Theme
- The theme of a story is the main idea or lesson.
- A fable is a story that teaches a lesson.
Lesson 8: Myths and Legends
- Myths are stories that explain how natural things in the world began or how customs began.
- Legends are stories that are partly based on true events but also have made-up parts added to them.

- Poetry is a type of writing where a small number of words are put together to create an experience, image, or feeling.
