- The parts of a map are legend/key, scale, title, labels, bodies of water, symbols (important places), roads, and landforms.
- Culture is the characteristics of the life shared by people who live in a particular time and place.
- Geography describes the location and characteristics of a place.
Lesson 2: Cardinal Directions
- The words we use to describe direction and location on a map are north, south, east, and west.
Lesson 3: Landforms and Bodies of Water
- Bodies of water include lakes, oceans, and rivers.
- Landforms include mountains, valleys, and hills.
Lesson 4: Natural Resources
- Natural resources are materials found in nature that are used by people.
- Many products we use are made from natural resources.
Lesson 5: Habitats and Geography
- Animals and plants can help meet the needs of people.
Lesson 6: Geography, Weather and Natural Disasters
- The equator is an imaginary line that runs from east to west around the middle of the world.
- A natural disaster is a sudden and destructive change in the weather that can damage the land and people in a geographic location.

- Population is the number of people who live in an area.
