• Money is what we trade for goods and services.
• A service is when someone does something to help someone in exchange for money.
• Goods are objects you can buy and use.

Lesson 5: Resources

• Resources are the goods and services provided by our communities and environment.
• Natural resources are found in nature.
• Manmade resources are services provided by people and goods made by people.

Lesson 6: A Good Community Citizen

• A citizen is a person who lives in a community.

Lesson 7: A Citizen with Character

• People with character demonstrate respect, responsibility, kindness, and honesty.
• Respect means listening to people and treating people and things as if they are important.
• Responsibility means doing the best you can at any job and controlling your actions.
• Kindness means treating people nicely and helping people.
• Honesty means telling the truth at all times.

Lesson 8: Rules and Laws

• A rule is direction for how to behave (what to do or not to do).
• A law is a rule to be followed in the community.
• Rules and laws help keep people safe and happy.

Lesson 9: Caring for Our Communities

• Good citizens care for their communities and try to make them better places to live.

• A plan is where you record the steps you must take to carry out an idea or action.
